Five Reasons to “Camp” with Us at the May 11 Public Communications Camp
Join us at the May 11 Public Communications Camp: Tools to Engage, Motivate, and Reassure Your Community to gain valuable outreach and communication skills. Whether you are a project manager, engineer, treatment plant operator or public outreach professional, these easy-to-adopt tips will build trust and credibility with stakeholders to meet your organization’s goals.
1. You can gain tried and true outreach skills from your industry peers.
We’ve assembled a great team of communications professionals who have been in your shoes and know what they’re doing. We’ve got more than 25 years’ worth of tried-and-true outreach campaign planning and execution in the water, wastewater and environmental fields. Our experts range from public and private sector marketing and community relations managers to digital media and school-education programming experts. They’ll show you how to connect with your core audience, evaluate your efforts and sustain momentum no matter the size is of your budget.
2. You’ll acquire core communication skill sets from videography to graphic design to crisis communication—all under $196
Individual classes and trainings on communication and graphic design are costly—sometimes running into the thousands of dollars! We’ve bundled seven courses together for one low price—and it’s even more of a deal ($180) for PNCWA members.
3. It’s conveniently located off I-84 and near Portland International Airport.
PNCWA members hail from the North Cascades of Washington, the farmlands of Southern Oregon and the forests of Eastern Idaho. That’s why we picked a central location in a beautiful area for our day-long camp. McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale, Oregon, is just 15 minutes from the Portland International Airport. Situated on 74-acre parcel of farmland, the resort looks over the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area. After getting your fill of communication know-how, wander the gardens, grab a pint, or visit the spa!
4. Professionals can earn .6 water/wastewater CEU’s.
Besides learning how to manage a tweetstorm or build the perfect communications strategy, you’ll be adding to your arsenal of wastewater training. Pick up some CEU’s while picking up a pint glass! While the sessions are sure to be fun, ultimately you’re bringing back skills to help educate and support wastewater and environmental education in your community.
5. Build your professional network—gain mentors for life.
We’re sure to have a great turn-out, so this camp is a great chance for you to network with your industry peers. In addition to digital access to all presentations and materials, attendees receive the complete camp contact list to help build your rolodex (remember those?) of project and career mentors.
