2017 Western Washington Short School & Trade Show: By the Numbers

From June 6-7th in Lynwood, Washington, operators from across Western Washington gathered for the annual short school and training. Each day, concurrent sessions were held each day for water and wastewater operators, engineers and managers covering treatment, maintenance, pumps, distribution & conveyance, odor control, sampling, energy conservation, I&C, water chemistry and more.   • 143 Total registered attendees  

  • 7 Attendees registered day of the event

  • 3 Students—including one who just graduated high school and is headed to Gonzaga University this fall for civil engineering (Get ’em while they’re young!)

  • 75 Speakers and volunteers – 14 of whom worked both days

  • 51 Vendors representing 30 different companies

  • 5 Concurrent sessions each day

  • 6 Hours of presentations each day

  • 1.2 Total CEU's possible

  • 1 WSDOH representative available both days to answer questions regarding operator certification

  • 5 New and unique programs to 2017: job-posting board, wastewater new technology track, young professionals presentations track, young professionals networking social, and Washington Retired Public Employees Council
